English has a mingling of many borrowed words and it is good to know
the correct sound of each alphabet .Having a good base is vital
before sentences are taught. Being eloquent is a grace and it is
good to have a lot of games in a session. Kids are eager to answer
and get it right. A lot of things are learnt later. For e.g. in the
word ‘person’ the alphabet ‘o’ makes the sound ‘uh’. This is
understood step wise as reading takes precedence for children.
Knowing the correct sound for each word is just a matter of get it
right with words. The teacher is well aware of any kind of
hesitation felt by the student and encourages the child to take a
step further.
There are vowels and consonants which are bifurcated initially.
While reading, a reader concentrates more on the alphabet and
ignores the pronunciation. Here the short and long vowels are taught
along with many examples. There is no need to hesitate as a child
picks up the words in a simple manner. The introduction is done with
2 or 3 letter words and slowly goes towards complex words. There are
so many ways the alphabet ‘a’ sounds. This can be seen in c-a-t and
b-a-s-i-c. The slight changes of long and short sounds are taught in
classes with pictures, cards and other visual aids. .
