Activity based learning works out best
to let the child know about the English language. English is
required in all walks of life and is a common mode of expression.
Going with the same spirit, it is good to teach phonics and the
right kind of sounds so that it becomes easy for the child to blend
sounds. Words and reading are the best way to gather information.
While speaking to the child, parents must not prattle as children
feel this is the way to talk and get the wrong kind of accent.
Similarly, worksheets and printable books are available which can be
a way to spend a lazy weekend and get the best of learning phonics.
The next phase is to know about blending words like bl or cl. This
is good to make a set of rhymes like bl words include blue, blank
and blink. The ‘cl’ words include clothes, cloth, cloud and so on.
What really happens it is easy to read and be careful about the eye
movements. But as the lesson progresses and include better sentence
formation the importance of vowels, silent words and differentiation
is sound words are taught. It is a really interesting sentence and
makes learning really easy. Broadly based as vowels and consonants
the grouping is the really magic while expressing sounds and this
can be through games.
In the later stage, kids learn to know about he ‘ou’ words like
thought, around and surround. Actually kids talk a lot about logic
because they have unassuming by nature. Answers to these questions
are very important so that children get to know the apt way of
conversation. Flash cards are the best activity available to
children. It is good to know about the same and get more activity
based cards. It would be real fun to cut up some cards yourself and
color it up in a vibrant way and use it for a game. More the merrier
is the theme for phonics. Children love the interesting ideas in
sound vowels and rhymes or sentences with the correct acoustics are
the best for them.
Talking about phonics and games is a great idea. There are
interesting CD’s available and much is done with help of visual
effects. The audio and the mimicry provided are loved by children.
Using flashcards is probably the best way to work it out. Along with
the same, children can learn to recognize the lowercase alphabets
and distinguish the upper case ones. Much can be taught by enactment
and that is possible with charts put up for display or giving a
dialogue to each child to represent a particular phonic sound.
Memory games are loved by children. You can divide them in groups
and get the best of fun along with phonics.
